One of the video slots we’re really looking forward to this autumn, the 9th of October (2018), is the Egyptian-themed Ark of Mystery from Quickspin – they have given us a sneak preview of what we can expect.
First impressions are good. There plenty of flair about the design which is just what we’ve come to expect from Quickspin. Flanked by flaming columns, you’ll see a selection of Egyptian hieroglyphs spinning around the reels including the ankh cross, eye of Horus and the scarab Beetle. They’re joined by an intrepid female treasure hunter who goes by the not so intrepid name of Anne!
It’s all as super slick as usual and backed by an Arabian inflected backing track which is a perfect match for the theme. And what of the features? Well there are 2 special extras on offer here by the look of it.
Wild Ark Respin feature – look out for the ark symbol which is the wild. This can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 only. Every time 1 hits, you’ll get a respin with the wild ark freezing in position. The wild then expands to fill the position above or below. If the third position on a row remains open, the process is repeated until the whole of the row is wild. With wild arks available to land on all of the middle 3 reels, you could end up with up to 6 respins and loads of extra wilds.
The second extra will be the Multiplier Booster feature – keep an eye out for the pyramid symbol which appears on reel 5 only. Every time 1 of these lands, it increases a multiplier. These are saved during each set of respins then revert back to 1x when a new spin starts. It’s possible to build up the multiplier up to a mammoth 22x!
The range of extras on offer here doesn’t appear to be that wide. Combine the respins with the expanding multipliers and the coins can really start to flow. It will offer payouts of over 6,500 times your bet!
There are plenty of similarly themed video slots already on the market. This virtual trip to Egypt looks like being a good one though.
