As usual for a video slot from Yggdrasil Gaming, Tut’s Twister looks superb. The 3D graphics feature many classical Egyptian images and are very nicely constructed. Where the game is different to most Egyptian-themed games is in the features.
Twister feature – this round is triggered by landing 2 wilds on the same spin. Tut will appear and turn 1 of the triggering wilds into a stacked twister wild that fills the reel. You’ll then be awarded respins with the other wilds from the triggering spin walking towards the twister wild, 1 reel at a time.
If you manage to land 3 walking wilds, you’ll be awarded a 2x multiplier during the rest of the respins. Any 3 wilds that subsequently hit on the respins add 1 to that multiplier total.
As long as there’s a walking wild heading towards the Twister, the respins continue. When they finish, you’ll be awarded a ‘last chance’ respin. The collected walking wilds are blasted back onto the reels and a final payout calculation is made. If you have a multiplier, this is applied too.
Twister Collection feature – above each reel you’ll see a hieroglyph meter. These are filled whenever a wild lands. They transform into a random hieroglyph and fill 1 space on that meter. Once a meter is filled, the final, triggering wild turns into a Twister.
A respin follows with the collected wilds from the associated reel dropping back onto the reels. These will deliver a multiplier of at least 2x. They’ll then turn into walking wilds with the rest of the round playing out like the Twister feature.
Yggdrasil Gaming has delivered a very different take on a classic theme here. The design is typically high end but what makes Tut’s Twister stand out are the unusual features. You won’t find any standard free spins. The Twisters, with their walking wilds, multipliers and respins are a more than adequate substitute though.
