This sequel is played using a 5 reel, 4 reel, 40 payline game engine and comes with the same gentle design as the original. The design in Butterfly Staxx 2 is similar to what was found in the original. With an enchanted garden in the background, you’ll see lower value royal symbols alongside flowers. The butterfly is the best payer, paying double your total bet if you land 5 in a row. There’s also a wild that substitutes for all the standard symbols. There are 3 extras on offer in Butterfly Staxx 2.

Re-Spins feature – this is triggered by landing a full stack of butterfly symbols on any base game spin. This stack shifts to the left-most reel and a re-spin is awarded. Land a butterfly on the re-spin and it too moves to the left and another re-spin follows. The process continues until no new butterfly lands.

If you manage to fill both reels 1 and 2 with stacks of butterflies, you’ll open up a second set of reels. Fill reel 3 and a third reel set activates. These reels spin independently of each other but in all cases butterflies shift to the left when they land.

As usual for a NetEnt video slot, the sound and visuals are very nicely done. There’s a genteel feel to the design which fits the theme rather well. The features are solid enough but didn’t really explode into life. We found the variance to be on the low side of medium though.

If you enjoyed the simple pleasures on offer from the original, then Butterfly Staxx 2 should appeal. For more, there’s not much I find appealing as it’s ‘soft’ theme wise. I prefer more high-octane offerings like Mercy of the Gods or Narcos (both from NetEnt).
