Take a classic fruit machine and combine it with video poker and you’ll come up with something like Abracardabra. Created by betdigital and NextGen Gaming, the goal is to try and make winning 3, 4 or 5 of a kind hands. There’s also a bonus round where a shuffle can deliver multiple winning hands complete with multipliers of 2x or 10x. Stakes range from between 1p and £20 per spin.
Abracardabra is played using a single line of playing cards rather than spinning reels. The playing cards all feature fruity symbols rather than standard numbers or royals. First click deal and 5 cards will drop into place. You can then hold as many of them as you like. A re-deal then follows. If you land a winner, the payout is made. A new deal then follows whether or not you’ve landed a winner.

This hybrid works better than we expected it to. The Magician’s Hat certainly helps things along but it’s the Abracardabra Bonus feature, complete with the multipliers that offers the best potential. We found it hard to trigger but enjoyed some excellent results when we didn’t.
