Yggdrasil Gaming’s Jackpot Raiders Video Slot Review

Jackpot Raiders: Demo

Go hunting for hidden treasure in Jackpot Raiders, a 5 reel, 20 payline video slot from Yggdrasil Gaming. Well designed as usual, it comes with plenty of extras including pick me prizes and free spins with multipliers as well as 5 potential jackpot prizes. Start your quest from between 10p and £40 per spin.

Yggdrasil Gaming offerings are usually easy on the eyes and ears and Jackpot Raiders is another well designed game. The setting is the treasure hunter’s boat. On the reels are heart, diamond club and spade symbols as well as a rucksack, a hat and knife and a pair of adventurers called Bear and Sam. Sam is potentially the most lucrative paying 3.5, 12.5 or 200 times your bet if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination. If you like plenty of variety from your extras, then you’re in luck here.

The Jackpots feature – above the reels are 5 different jackpot prizes. These are triggered by collecting matching gemstones during the selection of free spins features (more below). The prizes on offer are progressive and guarantee you a minimum:

  • Forgotten Jackpot – starting at £40
  • Rare Jackpot – starting at £200
  • Mythical Jackpot – starting at £600
  • Ancient Jackpot – starting at £1,500
  • Legendary Jackpot – starting at £15,000

Land 2 compass scatters on the same spin and you’ll activate the Pick & Click Chest feature. Pick 1 of the 5 chests. This will reveal a prize of up to 4 times your bet, a spin of the compass where you can land the Jackpot Free Spins feature or the Treasure Hunt Bonus feature, or a treasure map to help you trigger more free spins.

The compass is the scatter. Land 3, 4 or 5 of them on the same spin and you’ll enter The Compass feature – here you’ll receive a Compass Spin (as well as 50 or 500 times bet prize if you land 4 or 5 on the triggering spin). The compass hand spins and awards 1 of the following features:

  • Treasure Hunt Bonus feature
  • Jackpot Free Spins feature

Treasure Hunt Bonus feature – first choose your character. Bear is the low risk pick, offering smaller but regular rewards. The riskier pick is Sam who offers less regular wins but bigger prizes when you are successful. You’ll then have to navigate your way across a range of obstacles. There are safe, risky or very risky routes with awards to match.

As well as cash prizes, you could also collect relics and maps which gives you access to the Sunken Treasure Free Games feature. Here, you get 10 free spins with a 10x multiplier boost as well as 1 gem for each of the 5 jackpots.

If you enter the Jackpot Free Spins feature – you will get 10 free spins with a 3x multiplier. As well as via The Compass feature, you can also trigger the Jackpot Free Spins by collecting 5 identical treasure maps. These are all displayed in meters below each reel. In the Jackpot Free Spins feature, you’ll start with 1 jackpot gemstone.

There’s plenty going on here and it can take a little getting used to. There’s plenty to like though once you’ve got accustomed to it all. The free spins with multipliers offer some good winning potential and the Treasure Hunt Bonus feature, where you can vary the volatility, impresses. You can expect to land the Pick & Click Chest feature regularly too.

There are already loads of video slots with a similar theme to this available – like Microgaming’s Lara Croft: Temples and Tombs. Jackpots Raiders is a good addition though, combining classy design with some very playable extras to highly entertaining effect. You can win an impressive 4,100 times your bet from each Sunken Treasure free spin (due to the 10x multiplier) but it’s all about those 5 progressive jackpots.
