WMS has kept things simple in Zeus II as far as design goes. With the celestial sky in the background, you’ll see a selection of ancient Greek objects spinning around the pillared reels. They include bronze, silver and gold coins, laurel wreaths, harps, pots, helmets, galleys and the winged horse Pegasus.
The most rewarding symbol is the bearded figure of Zeus who awards 3.75 times your bet you land 5 in combination. There’s also a wild (the Parthenon style building). It substitutes for all other symbols bar the bonus scatter when it lands on reels 2, 3, 4 or 5.There are 2 extras on offer in Zeus II.
Hot Hot Super Respin feature – the Zeus symbol can spin in fully stacked formation. If a full stack fills reel 1, you’ll trigger the feature. The stack of Zeus symbols plus any wilds elsewhere on the reels are held and you’ll receive 2 respins.
Zeus II Bonus feature – land 3 bonus scatters on the same spin to trigger the second feature. On offer here are 10 free spins. Helping your chances are extra Zeus and wild symbols which are in play throughout the round. It’s possible to trigger the Hot Hot Super Respins feature as well as retriggering the feature for 10 more free spins.
There’s nothing too flashy about Zeus II. The simple cartoon style imagery works well though alongside the traditional orchestra score. The gameplay is pretty straightforward too but none the worse for that. The extra wilds on offer in the respins and free spins don’t really amount to anything as 150 times your bet as a maximum on any spin – that’s not good enough.
The original Zeus video slot is 1 of the most popular games of all time – both online and in land-based casinos. Zeus II really doesn’t deliver at all unfortunately. There are far better alternatives featuring Zeus out there including Playtech’s Age of the Gods and Play ‘N Go’s Rise of Olympus.
