We usually enjoy the design of Quickspin games but found the visuals in Sugar Trail a little overpowering. A sugary realm filled with sweeties, ice cream, cakes and lollies forms the backdrop to the reels. There’s you’ll see A to 10 symbols alongside 5 different types of sweet. There’s also a standard wild that replaces all other symbols bar the scatter. There are 3 extras on offer in Sugar Trail.
- Wild Candy Free Spins feature – these are triggered by landing 3 King Gummy Bear symbols on reels 1, 2 and 3 on the same spin. The number of free spins on offer here varies depending on how far along the Sugar Trail you get immediately prior to the start of the feature. There’s a bit of schmaltzy overdose going on here. We found the theme and the visuals a little too sickly sweet for our liking. The range of features aren’t bad but it’s hard to see past the pastel blitz. As far as variance goes, Sugar Trail is in the low to medium range with maximum wins of 571 times your bet on each spin/free spin.
With a few honourable exceptions, we don’t really enjoy these candy-themed video slots. Sugar Trail is perfectly fine as it goes. It’s just a little too cute and dripping in saccharine for our liking. This is a game for players with a virtual sweet tooth only. Saying that, I do prefer other Quickspin offerings like Northern Sky and Sticky Bandits.
