Spider-Man Attack of the Green Goblin: Demo

Spider-Man Attack of the Green Goblin Video Slot review

The Spider-Man Attack of the Green Goblin game is a Marvel slot with 5 reels and 25 paylines. Therefore you can spin away from 25p a spin up to a whopping £125 a spin. The game has a comic book feel to it and is based on Spider-Man’s battle against his arch nemesis, the Green Goblin. The game has many bonus features but don’t let it deter you – it’s a high variance game! As with the previous Marvel slot, Wolverine, it uses the Turbo Mode feature where lets you spin the reels extremely quickly (a great thing in my opinion).

The games benefits from 2 randomly activated features. You have the Spider-Man Wild feature where Spider-Man turns between 2 and 4 symbols into wilds. The other is the Spidey Snapshot feature where Spider-Man’s picture is taken on the reels. You will receive between 3 and 10 times your stake. Both these features don’t trigger that often though – that’s good considering the value of them is pretty low.

The main appeal is the Spider-Man Collection Bonus feature – you can gain access to this by obtaining the Spider-Man symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5. It’s not a feature as such but gives you access to the other 5 features. A comic book strip appears representing the 5 bonus features. You need to start it shuffling and stop it to gain access to the chosen feature.

2 of the features are cash bonus ones whilst the other 3 are free spins features. Starting with cash ones, there is the Ultimate Fight feature where Spider-Man and the Green Goblin battle on city rooftops. Choose 1 of the 5 options to reveal Spider-Man, the Green Goblin or the Power Unit. Both characters start with full power of 20 and it ends when an opponent has 0. Every blow Spider-Man inflicts gives you a cash prize with up to 40 times your stake on offer.

The other is the City Chase feature – Spider-Man swings across the city searching for the Green Goblin. When he stops, he can collect Hazard Spidey Sense or Intuition Spidey Senses. The first allows you to pick again and avoid collecting your prize. The latter shows you the prizes up for grabs. There are 10 encounters in total with the returns being quite poor.

The value for me is in the free spins features. You have the Hot Zone Free Games feature where you get 20 free spins. Spider-Man randomly throws cobwebs at the reels creating Hot Zones. These will keep a wild stuck there for 3 spins. Look out for the Green Goblin symbol as it’s a 2x wild!

Then there is the Radioactive Free Games feature where you’ll receive 15 free spins. Look out for the Radioactive Spider symbol because when it appears on reel 3, will create wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4. Potentially you can get up to 3 Radioactive Spider wilds per free spin.

My favourite is the Rivalling Free Games feature – you will get 10 free spins with a 1x multiplier. Look out for the Spider-Man ‘Spidey’ icon on reel 3 as this will freeze the free spins counter. Every time it appears after that, it increases the multiplier by 1 up to a maximum 5x.

Now, if the Green Goblin icon appears, it will reduce the multiplier to 1x and unfreeze the free spins counter. This can go back and forth – what you want is to get a few good combinations when you have either a 4x or 5x multiplier. I found this feature to be the most rewarding (hence why it’s my favourite) – I managed to win £371.50 from a £2.50 stake meaning I won 148.6 times my stake.

Now, I’ve played the 3 free spins features plenty of times with wins as low as 5 times my stake. This game is highly volatile in my opinion and win amounts vary quite a lot. This is appealing to me as the hunt for that big win keeps me coming back for me. I quite like challenging slots (such as The Avengers) and the Spider-Man slot is up there for me. One thing – you need to be patient with this game as it can drive your crazy. However, I found it to be great when it does eventually pay out big.
