Playtech Turn It On Video Slot Review

Turn It On: Demo

Clucking chickens can deliver some top action in the supremely strange Turn It On video slot. Created by Playtech, it’s a 5 reel, 243 ways to win video slot that comes with sleek design, locked symbol spins and a free spins round where the middle 3 reels are dominated by colossal symbols. Stakes range from between 50p and £500 per spin.

Playtech has created a fine-looking game here. The colourful visuals have a minimalist look which isn’t something you’d expect from a game where a chicken is the star. You’ll see A to 9 royal symbols alongside ears of wheat, bees and strawberries. Top of the payers is the orange which awards 0.6, 1 or 2 times your bet if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

Helping to create those winning combinations is the chicken which is the wild. It can hit on reels 2, 3 and 4 only and substitute for everything apart from the scatter. There are 2 features on offer in Turn It On.

Locked Reels feature – this can become active at random on any spin in the base game. Reels 2 and 3 or reels 3 and 4 will lock together to display identical matching symbols.

Free Spins feature – land 3 scatters on the middle 3 reels on the same spin and your reward will be 15 free spins. The reels here are dominated by colossal 3×3 symbols which fill the whole of the central 3 reels. You will play on 3 reel sets which trebles your winning potential.

This is a very strange game. The super slick design doesn’t really match the chicken theme. Likewise, the backing track which goes from rock to crazy electro to clucking chickens when you land a win that features a wild.

We managed to hit the locked reels at regular intervals. The Free Spins feature was harder to come by. Even that was a bit hit and miss. Fill the whole of the middle 3 reels with a full colossal symbol then land a matching symbol on reels 1 and 5 and the coins can quickly mount. We’d put the variance in the medium to high range.

Part fruit machine, part chicken-themed video slot, Turn It On is a bizarre game. For all its strangeness, the free spins round makes it a playable one. Get lucky there and you could lay a decent amount of golden eggs. If you want something more conventional theme wise, Playtech’s Call of the Valkyries is based on Norse mythology.
