Playtech’s Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix Video Slot Review

Tiger Turtle Dragon: Demo

Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix is a traditional Chinese-themed video slot from Playtech. Played using a 5 reel, 243 ways to win game engine, it comes with a bonus round that awards up to 16 free spins with stacked 2x and 3x multipliers that can appear on the middle reel. There’s also a chance to land 1 of 4 jackpot prizes. Stakes in this simple game range from between 20p and £500 per spin.

There’s a classical Chinese feel to the design here. Flanked by a pair of mighty jade dragons, the deep purple reels are made up of A to 9 royals as well as the 4 creatures from the game’s title. The most rewarding symbol is the Dragon which pays 0.5, 1 or 5 times your bet if you land 3, 4 or 5 on adjacent reels. The Chinese letter symbol is the wild. This replace all of the standard symbols and can appear on the middle reel only.

The main feature in Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix is the Free Games feature. It’s triggered by landing 3 scatters across reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin. After a payout of double your bet, you’ll then go on to play 8 free spins. Things are slightly different in the bonus round. The standard wild can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 rather than just the middle reel.

Also joining the action are stacked multiplier wilds which can hit on reel 3 only. These double or treble the payout when they form part of a winning combination. Land 3 scatters for a re-trigger and another round of 8 free spins complete with the 2x and 3x multiplier wilds.

Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix also offers a chance to land 1 of 4 jackpot prizes. The Jackpot feature is triggered by landing the Gold Shield behind any symbol on reels 1 and 5 on the same spin. You’ll then be offered a selection of scrolls. Keep picking until you land 3 that match. That’s the prize you’ll win. Awards of 25, 50, 300 or 4,000 times your bet are on offer if you hit the Mini, Minor, Major or Grand Jackpot.

Playtech has kept things simple here. The traditional imagery and soundtrack are well put together. You won’t find anything overly innovative from the gameplay but the Free Games feature offers some potential courtesy of the multiplier wilds.

If you’re not usually a fan of this theme, then Tiger Turtle Dragon Phoenix probably won’t win you round. If you like the Chinese genre then this simple game is one to consider. For me there’s not enough on offer – Playtech has lots of other options with Age of the Gods: Mighty Midas my pick.
