Thor The Mighty Avenger is a 5 reel 30 payline video slot which is powered by Playtech. It is part of the Marvel Series slots which are one of the most loved and popular groups of slot games online. Based on the Thor film, you are taken on a journey with the Mighty Avenger to the land of Asgard to seek fortunes from 9 worlds which are inhabited by Heimdall, Laufey, the Frost Giants and more. Anyway, you can play the game from 30p to £600 a spin – all the bonus features are described below.
Thor can be played in 3 modes – the base game is played in Asgard mode (the default). The other 2 modes can be activated from the Rainbow Bridge feature which is described a little bit later on. Firstly, I wanted to mention the other bonus features.
During the base game, wild symbols appear stacked on reel 2 and 4. When the stacked wilds cover reel 2, it will trigger the Thunderstorm Respin feature. The second reel becomes frozen and covered with wild symbols with 1 re-spin awarded.
However, stacked wilds on reel 4 trigger the Lightning Free Spin feature. Between 2 and 5 wilds are randomly scattered on the reels with 1 re-spin awarded. This re-spin feature is better than the above due to having a better chance of winning bigger. 5 wilds could be very rewarding!
As mentioned above, there are 3 modes to this game – these are accessed from the Rainbow Bridge feature which is triggered by covering the entire middle reel with Heimdall symbols. The 2 modes are free spins features which are played on special reels. Anyway, which mode you go to will depend on you choosing between 2 orbs.
You have the Jutenheim Free Games feature where you will get infinite free spins until the Rainbow Bridge feature is triggered. During the free spins game, only wild and Heimdall symbols appears on the middle reel. Look out for the Laufey symbol as it acts like an extra wild and freezes winning combinations when you have the Thor wild on reel 3. It will be frozen/held for the next spin unless Laufey creates an even better winning combination.
Then there’s the Earth Free Games feature where again you get infinite free spins until you triggered the Rainbow Bridge feature. Look out for the Destroyer symbol on reel 5 as the Destroyer blows fire on the rest of the reels. The symbols that catch fire will burn for up to 4 free spins with a 2x multiplier being applied to its value.
Thor is a superb game and Playtech have done well to improve their already strong Marvel slots offering. The free spins features are particularly good and can give you some great wins if you have a nice run of free spins. The graphics and animations are brilliant (like with all Marvel slots).
