Playtech’s Minted Money Video Slot Review

Minted Money: Demo

A magical stamping money machine takes centre stage in Minted Money, a 5 reel, 5 payline video slot from Playtech. There’s an Irish luck feel to this simple game. The highlight is the bonus round that awards up to 16 free spins. On each of them, between 1 and 5 reels are stamped so symbols pay in all positions on that reel. Get a re-trigger to activate a 2x multiplier. Play on all devices from between 5p and £500 per spin.

Set against a woodland backdrop and flanked by pots of coins, the reels are set within a wooden mechanical stamping machine. Joining the lower value heart, diamond, club and spade symbols are bronze, silver and gold coins. As you’d expect, the latter is the top payer, awarding 1, 9, 25 or 160 times your bet if you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination. There’s also a diamond which is the game’s wild. This replaces everything apart from the 4-leaf clover scatter which can appear on the middle 3 reels only.

Landing 2 or 3 scatters on the same spin triggers the game’s Stamp Spins feature. After a payout of 2 or 5 times your total bet, you’ll then go on to play 8 free spins. The stamping machines, which are dormant in the base game, become active once the bonus is triggered. On each free spin, between 1 and 5 reels will be stamped. All the symbols on that reel will then pay in all positions. This means plenty of opportunities to create extra winning combinations.

If a wild is on a reel that gets stamped the whole of the reel is stamped. Landing 2 or 3 scatters on the same free spins results in a re-trigger. As well as another 8 free spins. you’ll also activate a 2x multiplier. This doubles all payouts for the rest of the feature.

Playtech has created an attractive looking game here. The old-fashioned looking visuals are nicely done and there’s a fantastical quality to the backing track. We weren’t quite so enamoured with the gameplay. The Stamp Spins feature offers something unusual thanks to the stamped reels and extras symbols in play. It didn’t exactly blow us away though.

On the occasions we did land the free spins, we found them to be a real hit and miss affair – with possible wins of 1,800 times your bet on every free spin. Minted Money is solid enough. It’s not a video slot we’ll be rushing back to play though. I’d rather play other Irish luck themed games like Yggdrasil Gaming’s Rainbow Ryan.
