Iron Man 3 is a Playtech powered video slot which is part of the Marvel Series games. With 5 reels and 20 paylines, you can play from just 25p a spin to as much as £250 a spin. The game is based on the Iron Man 3 film starring Robert Downey Junior (as Iron Man) whereby Iron Man, War Machine and Iron Patriot plan to save the world. The Iron Man 3 film is the 5th highest grossing film of all time (at time of writing).

In the base game, you will notice there are 3 scatters – if you get the Mark 42 symbol on reel 1, War Machine symbol on reel 3 and Iron Patriot symbol on reel 5 simultaneously, you will active the All Systems Go Re-Spin feature. These 3 scatter symbols will remain locked in their triggering position. Then you are awarded 1 re-spin. I’ve managed to win over 40 times my stake on a couple of occasions but don’t expect more than 10 times your stake very often.

The main attraction is the Hall of Armour Free Games feature – this is triggered by getting 3 or more Iron Man logo scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. You will then come across a screen where you need to choose from 3 free spins features – the options are as follows:

The Iron Patriot Free Games feature gives you 15 free spins with a Dynamic Multiplier. This ranges from 2x to 5x. The Iron Patriot robot on the left of the reels increases the multiplier by 1 if an Iron Patriot symbols appears on reels 1, 2, 4 or 5. If it doesn’t appear, the multiplier will decrease by 1. The first free spin plays out with a random multiplier and an Iron Patriot symbol on reel 3 will give you an extra 3 free spins. More free spins can be won indefinitely.

The Iron Man Mark 42 Free Games feature awards you with 10 free spins with Freezing Wilds. Any wild symbol that shows up on the reels remains frozen for 3 free spins. When a wild symbol landing in the same place, it reset to 3 free spins. You can also earn extra free spins when the Mark 42 symbol lands on the middle reel, giving you 3 extra free spins. You can trigger an unlimited number of free spins.

Then there’s the War Machine Free Games feature where you will receive 8 free spins with Random Wilds. Before each free spin plays out, the War Machine robot on the side of the reels turns 3 symbols at random into wilds. You can also get more wilds per free spin which can result in bigger wins. Get the War Machine symbol on reel 3 for an extra 3 free spins – more free spins can be won indefinitely.

Iron Man 3 is a good Marvel slot game with the graphics and animations being superb (better than previous Marvel slots). The big wins won’t come very often but should come from the War Machine Free Games feature if you can manage to get 5 or more wilds in 1 free spin. I quite like this game and is better than the previous Iron Man slots released by Playtech. However, I still find The Avengers slot to be the most appealing due to the potential of big wins in the Thor Free Games feature.
