Playtech Cascading Cave Video Slot Review

Cascading Cave: Demo

Go digging for treasure in Cascading Cave, a mining-themed video slot from Playtech. It’s a 5 reel, 10 payline game that’s played using collapsing reels. Trigger the Diamond Drop feature and those collapses come with wild multipliers that can boost payouts by 2x, 3x and 5x. Play on your PC, tablet or mobile from between 10p and £500 per spin.

Playtech has created a cracking looking and sounding video slot here. With a wistful, harmonica heavy soundtrack, you’ll see blue, red and green gemstones spinning around the mine-set reels. They’re joined by a pickaxe, a lamp and a donkey. The best of the standard payers is the grizzly old miner which pays 2.5, 10 or 100 times your bet if you land 3, 4 or 5 across a payline. Those same payouts are on offer from the shiny white diamond which is the wild. This replaces all of the standard symbols.

Cascading Caves uses the Collapsing Reels feature. Land a winner and those symbols are removed and new ones drop in from above to replace them. If a new winner is created, the process is repeated. The collapses continue as long as a winning combination hits.

The symbol to keep an eye out for is the sticks of dynamite symbol. Land 2 or 3 of these on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Diamond Drop feature. A number appears above the reels where the triggering sticks of dynamite hit. This will reveal how many multiplier wilds will drop onto that reel.

A new set of symbols then drop onto the reels, complete with the multiplier wilds. These can boost payouts by 2x, 3x or 5x. A collapse then follows. These collapses keep on coming until there’s one where no winning combination hits.

This isn’t the most complex video slot you’ll see. The collapsing reels keep things moving in the base game. The Diamond Drop feature can deliver some pretty good action too if you get on a roll with the collapses and the wild multipliers work their magic – up to 10,000 times your bet on each spin!

It’s not a video slot we’ll be rushing back to play again and again. The combination of classy sound and visuals and a steady gameplay make Cascading Cave a game to consider though, especially if you like this theme. Alternatively, Play ‘N Go’s Wild Falls is a good option.
