Playtech Asian Fantasy Video Slot Review

Asian Fantasy: Demo

Playtech’s love affair with all things Chinese continues with Asian Fantasy. It’s a 5 reel, 40 payline video slot whose main attraction is the bonus feature that awards up to 100 free spins complete with nudging wilds that can fill up whole reels. Play on desktop, mobile and tablet devices from 40p per spin.

The design in Asian Fantasy isn’t as flashy as what’s on offer in some Playtech games – the reels are set against a simple turquoise backdrop and include the developer’s usual lower value A to 9 playing cards. The rest of the imagery has more of a feel of historic, imperial China. Look out for knives, chest armour and a warrior’s helmet. Each of these offer payouts of 2, 20, 75 or 150 coins. The most lucrative symbol is the bearded Chinese warrior. Land 5 of these on a payline and you’ll pocket 300 coins.

A mystery woman in red is the wild – she doesn’t offer any specific payouts but does replace all other symbols bar the scatter. The wild can land fully stacked but only on reels 1, 3 and 5.

Land 3, 4 or 5 of the scatter (the dragon head) anywhere on the reels and you’ll win a payout of 2, 10 or 20 times your total stake as triggering the Free Games feature. Here you will get 15, 25 or 50 free spins. There’s an extra wrinkle on offer in the feature too.

If the mystery woman wild lands on 1 or 2 positions on a reel, she will nudge to turn the whole reel wild – this is known as the Nudging Wild feature. Keep an eye out for the scatters during the feature too as they can get you another round of free spins if they fall nicely giving you up to 100 free spins potentially.

This is one of Playtech’s simpler Chinese offerings – the visuals are neat and tidy without really offering much in the way of wow factor. The same can be said of the gameplay which is solid rather than spectacular. The free spins round is a good one though and the nudging wilds can create some impressive winning opportunities if they land on multiple reels on the same free spin.

Asian Fantasy isn’t the flashiest game you’ll come across but is a perfectly serviceable title. If you enjoy the Chinese theme, it’s certainly one to consider. Alternatively, Warriors Gold and Heavenly Ruler by Playtech are recommended.
