Captain America The First Avenger Video Slot review
Captain America The First Avenger is a Playtech-powered Marvel video slot with 5 reels and 20 paylines. Predominantly set during World War II, it’s based on Steve Rogers who is unfit for the military but transforms into super soldier Captain America. His aim is to combat Red Skull who is Adolf Hitler’s head of weaponry. You can play from 20p to £100 a spin and has a great free spins feature.
The game benefits from 2 wild symbols – both Captain America and Red Skull. When Captain America appears on reel 1, in combination with the Free Games symbol on reel 3 and Red Skull on reel 5, you will trigger the Super Energy Free Games feature. Back to the wilds, you will receive double wins when either wild participates in a winning combination with various symbols.
When the Super Energy Free Games feature begins, you will be rewarded with 4 free spins initially. Then you will come across a grid of 9 squares (3×3). Each of the squares will reveal one of the following:
4 Free Games – you will receive 4 extra free spins. 3 of these symbols are on the grid which means you can get an additional 12 free spins making a grand total of 16 free spins.
+1 Multiplier – getting this will increase the multiplier by 1. There are 3 of these symbols on the grid so you could get up to a 3x multiplier in total.
Free Spins Re-Trigger – the cube symbol can appear on the middle reel at random and will reward you with 4 extra free spins. It can appear numerous times.
Captain America or Red Skull – both symbols act as expanding wilds during the feature. When they appear and create a winning combination, it will expand to become an expanding wild.
2 Super Spins – you can trigger the Villain Super Spin and Hero Super Spin. These occur after the Super Energy Free Games feature has ended. In the Hero Super Hero Spin, Captain America is an expanding wild on reel 1 with an extra wild randomly added to the reels. The same occurs for the Villain Super Hero Spin but will Red Skull.
Now, you will be allowed to make a minimum of 4 picks and a maximum of 9 picks. Picking Power features will stop when the chosen field displays the ‘Collect’ option at the bottom of it. This is where the big wins will come from. As you can see from the screenshots, I managed to win £6,120 from a £10 stake in the Villain Super Spin alone. Pity I was playing for free though! The expanding wild with an extra wild can really boost your winnings.
I quite like the Captain America The First Avenger slot game to be honest – my favourite is still The Incredible Hulk but it’s certainly one of the better Marvel slots (they’re all good to be fair). I found that decent wins didn’t come along very frequently but when they did, they were of a decent size. Graphically super too, the secret (and the big wins) is in the Super Energy Free Games feature. If you like medium variance slots, you should also try Desert Treasure II.
