ELK Studios Taco Brothers Slot Review and Free Play

Taco Brothers: Demo

An evil baddie called Captain Diaz is trying to steal a Mexican village’s supply of tacos and only Pepe, Pico and Paso aka the Taco Brothers can help. That’s the somewhat strange concept in this Mexican-themed slot from ELK Studios. It’s a 5 reel, 243 ways to win slot that comes with re-spins and a free spins feature with up to 3x multipliers as well as running wilds. Tuck in from between 10p and £50 per spin.

ELK Studios may not be the biggest developer but they certainly know how to craft lovely looking slots – that’s certainly the case with Taco Brothers which looks a treat. A dusty Mexican street scene forms the backdrop to the reels which include a miner’s spade and lamp, a bottle of tequila, a cactus and a guitar. The 3 brothers are the higher value symbols with the cigar-chomping Paso the top payer, offering 400 coins for a 5 symbol combination.

There are 2 wilds – the bell is a standard wild. Look out too for the Taco Brother Wild. When 2 of these land, you’ll be awarded a re-spin.

Land the safe symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 to trigger the Free Spins feature – it has been spiced up with a couple of tasty little extras. First up is a multiplier which will be applied to all of your free spins and can reach up to 3x. You’ll then be taken to a new set of reels where Captain Diaz and the lovely Señorita join the action. The second free spin extra are the running wilds.

The trio of Taco Brothers are wild in the feature and drop onto reel 5 one at a time. They then move across the reel, 1 position to the left with every spin. The symbol you don’t want to see here is Cpt Diaz as he’ll lock up the brother and stop him from moving. The Señorita does just the opposite, unlocking and releasing any of the Brothers as well as awarding more free spins. The free spins continue until all of the brothers are tucked up behind bars or have made their escape.

Featuring superb visuals, quality animations and a cracking soundtrack (especially in the free spins round), Taco Brothers is a sensual delight. The pace flows nicely thanks to the 243 ways to win game engine and the re-spin and free spins features are good ones. This isn’t the most volatile slot you’ll come across so it’s unlikely that you’ll break the bank. Taco Brothers is a thoroughly entertaining game to play though and is a slot we’re happy to say “Hola” to. If you like the theme, NetEnt’s Spiñata Grande is worth playing.
