Novomatic Queen Cleopatra Slot Review and Free Play

Queen Cleopatra: Demo

Pay homage to the famous ancient Egyptian monarch in Queen Cleopatra, a 5 reel, 10 payline video slot from the Novomatic stable. This Arabian adventure comes with a bonus round that awards up to 20free spins. Look out for the special symbol that expands whenever it hits and offers scatter payouts. Play from 40p per spin.

Queen Cleopatra is certainly a step up from some of Novomatic’s stodgier looking games – the design here is very nicely done as the setting is the chamber of a pyramid. The usual lower value playing cards are joined by a golden snake, a necklace and a statue. The most rewarding symbol is Cleopatra who offers awards of 1, 10, 100 or 500 times your total stake if you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 across a payline.

The other symbol you’ll see spinning around the reels is the magical book which serves as both the wild and the scatter. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on the same spin and you’ll pocket an award equal to 2, 20 or 200 times your total stake – you’ll also trigger the game’s Free Games feature.

Here you can look forward to 10 free spins. As usual with Novomatic, they come with a little twist attached. Before they start, 1 symbol is chosen at random. Whenever this symbol lands during the free spins, it expands to fill the whole of the reel. You can also land a winner if the symbols don’t land in a standard payline combination. If 3 or more books drop on the same free spin, you’ll get another round of free spins (giving you 20 in total).

Queen Cleopatra is just what we’ve come to expect from a Novomatic video slot, especially as far as gameplay is concerned. The free spins round isn’t especially original but it does offer some decent potential, especially if the expander is a high value symbol. The sound and visuals, while not from the top drawer, are certainly a step up from many previous Novomatic offerings.

If you’re a fan of the ancient theme or games from this developer, you should find plenty to like in Queen Cleopatra. There’s nothing too flashy on show but what Queen Cleopatra does, it does well enough. Alternatively, you could opt for Book of Ra Deluxe or Lord of the Ocean which offer the same game engine.
