Novomatic Music Island Slot Review and Free Play

Music Island: Demo

Step into a strange parallel universe where your favourites pop stars have transformed into fruit. That’s the bizarre concept of Music Island, a simple 5 reel, 50 payline video slot from Novomatic. This show doesn’t come with any bonus features but there’s a bumper jackpot of 2,000 times your stake on offer if you manage to fill the reels with wilds. Playable on all devices, stakes start at 50p per spin.

The reels in Music Island are a riot of colour as you’ll see 6 standard fruity symbols spinning around the reels. They’re fruit like no other though. Each has been given a pop music makeover. The lowest value symbols are the cherries, a lemon and an orange complete with a Freddie Mercury style bushy tache. These 3 award 10, 20 or 100 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

More lucrative are the reggae style melon and the Snoop Dogg plum which offer awards of 20, 40 or 200 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. Most rewarding of the standard symbols is the bell which has obviously taken inspiration from Madonna – the bell offers payouts of 20, 100 or 400 coins.

The 2 other symbols you’ll see offer even better rewards. Modelled on Michael Jackson is the scatter – this will get you an award equal to 5, 20 or 500 times your total stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 anywhere on the reels on the same spin.

King of the symbols though is the Elvis-style wild which replaces all other symbols bar the scatter. The awards of 2, 20 and 40 times your stake are good enough but not massively out of the ordinary. Fill the whole of the reels with 20 matching wilds though and you’ll pocket a bumper payouts of some 2,000 times your total stake!

There are no other features to report so if you like plenty of extras and variety then Music Island will leave you disappointed. The base game can offer some feisty action though – we found the variance here to be pretty high.

This a really stripped back video slot, even by Novomatic standards. This developer is no stranger to, shall we be polite and say, unusual themes – this is as bonkers as its gets. If you’re after simple supremely silly, musical entertainment then Music Island will be a hit. If you like your music, there are plenty of options out there with NetEnt’s Guns ‘N Roses and IGT’s Shamrockers Eire to Rock recommended.
