The famous wizard is back to conjure up more magic in Merlin’s Money Burst. Created by NextGen Gaming, this 5 reel, 60 payline game comes with a trio of cracking features that deliver free spins, sticky symbols and wild extras. Play with SuperBet mode active and you can boost your payouts by up to 10x. Play on your PC, tablet or mobile from between 30p and £75 per spin.
Set against and enchanted woodland backdrop, the 2x2x4x4x4 reels are made up of lower value royal symbols as well as hour glasses, money pouches and bottles of potion. The best standard symbol is the book of spells which offers awards of up to 8.33 times your bet per payline. More rewarding still is the bearded figure of Merlin who is the wild. He replaces all other symbols bar the scatter and pays 83.33 times your bet for 5 on a payline.
Up your stakes to bring the SuperBet feature into play. This can attach a multiplier of between 2x and 10x to any wild wins depending on how much you wager – for the top multipliers, it will set you back between £3 and £600 per spin.
Merlin’s Money Burst comes with a trio of bonus features.
Merlin’s Held Re-Spins feature – land 4 matching symbols and fill all of reels 1 and 2 to trigger this round. The matching symbols are locked in position and 5 re-spins are awarded. With a wave of his wand, Merlin can conjure up even more wilds. Re-triggers are possible too.
Merlin’s Free Games feature – 1o free spins are on offer if you land scatters on reels 3, 4 and 5 on the same spin. Once again, Merlin can transform symbols into wilds. Re-triggers are possible too. You can land the Merlin Held Re-Spins feature from here too.
Merlin’s Wild Spins feature – this is the best of the 3 features by far. It’s not easy to trigger as you’ll need to land 4 matching symbols on reels 1 and 2 as well as 3 scatters on reels 3, 4 and 5 on the same spin. 10 free spins are then awarded. All 4 symbol positions on reels 1 and 2 are wild throughout the round. Expect Merlin to deliver plenty more wilds on reels 3, 4 and 5 too. Once again re-triggers are possible.
We enjoyed Merlin’s Money Burst. The design is decent enough but nothing overly special. It’s the bonus features and especially Merlin’s Wild Spins feature that make this such an intriguing play. All those extra wilds can combine to excellent effect.
We found this to be a volatile game so you can expect lengthy down spells. If the wizard works his magic though, Merlin’s Money Burst can deliver some enchanting action. I also suggest you try WMS’ Fire Queen which uses a Double Money Burst game engine!
