Judge Dredd: Demo

Judge Dredd Video Slot review

Judge Dredd is a 5 reel 25 payline video slot created by NextGen Gaming. It’s based on the comic book character which has become very famous due to the 1995 Hollywood film which starred Sylvester Stallone as Judge Dredd. Despite the film being a flop, it’s well known and responsible for some great catchphrases. Anyway, it’s playable from as little as 25p a spin to as much as £100 a spin.

You will notice Judge Dredd uses the SuperBet feature – this means you can add an extra wager to each spin to increase your winning potential (you will see it on the right-hand side). SuperBet Yellow (which is the default) means that Dredd wild symbols will only appear on the middle reel (minimum bet 25p/maximum bet £50).

If you select SuperBet Orange, wilds can show up on the 3 middle reels but the minimum stake would be 35p and the maximum £70. Finally SuperBet Red allows for Dredd wilds to show up on all reels – the minimum stake rises to 50p a spin and maximum stake would be £100.

There are 2 bonus features in Judge Dredd which vary in winning potential. You have the I Am The Law feature which is triggered in the base game after a winning spin. Dredd will appear to give you a cash bonus. The amount varies but don’t expect more than 10 times your stake.

However, the main appeal of the Judge Dredd slot is the Free Games feature – you can play this when 3 or more Badge scatter symbols appear anywhere in view. You will begin with 10 free spins and all wins are doubled (2x multiplier). The good thing about this feature is the reels are enriched so more wilds will appear. There’s also potential for getting more free spins.

This may sound quite standard but the enhanced reels in the Free Games feature really make a difference. Saying that, I found it very difficult to trigger the feature in the first place. I’ve played well over 2,000 spins and only triggered the free spins feature twice. On a brighter note, I did win just over 300 times my stake on my last outing.

Judge Dredd is an average slot game I would say – you can pretty big if you’re lucky but its low to medium variance so doesn’t really appeal to me. There are much better ‘branded’ slots out there with The Avengers by Playtech (which is excellent) and Jurassic Park by Microgaming. If you like high variance, you should try one of NextGen Gaming’s most popular slots, 300 Shields – this is as highly volatile as you can get!
