NextGen Gaming Cat Burglar Video Slot Review

Cat Burglar: Demo

A cheeky robber tries to part a museum from its treasures in Cat Burglar a highly volatile 5 reel, 25 payline video slot from GamesLab and NextGen Gaming. The highlight of this crime caper is undoubtedly the Vault feature where cracking a code can deliver up to 190 free spins with multipliers reaching a whopping 16x. Play on your desktop, tablet or mobile device from between 25p and £100 per spin.

The action here takes place in a cartoon museum filled with vases, statues and dinosaur skeletons. Joining the lower value royal values are a necklace, a rope, an exterior shot of the museum, an animal archaeologist and guard dog. The latter is the best of the standard symbols, paying 12 times your bet if you land 5 on a line.

Helping to create the winners is the masked cat burglar. This feisty female is the wild, replacing everything bar the scatter and offering awards of up to 20 times your bet per payline. The onyx statue is the scatter. Land 3 or 4 of these and you’ll trigger the Feature Trigger Re-Spin feature – you’ll then get a re-spin which gives the chance to land another scatter and boost your potential haul in the main feature.

Once the re-spins are complete, you’ll progress to the Vault feature. To start, you’ll be awarded 5 free spins at 1x. You can add to that tally by opening 1 of the 5 vaults by cracking their 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 digit code. You do this by choosing numbers on the keypad. The more scatters from the triggering spin, the more picks you’ll get here.

If you crack a code you’ll receive another 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100 free spins depending on which vault you open. Also, on offer are multiplier increases of between 1x and 5x. Re-triggers add another 5 free spins to your total too. There are a maximum of 190 free spins on offer with multipliers that can reach a mighty 16x.

Even when you trigger the Vault feature, there’s no guarantee that you’ll land any extra free spins. Look out when you do though as the extra free spins and multipliers can combine to potentially spectacular effect. As you’d expect, the variance here is very high with maximum payouts of 8,000 times your bet on each 16x multiplier free spin.

If you can cope with the big bankroll swings, there’s plenty to like in Cat Burglar. The cartoon design has a real cops ‘n’ robbers feel and works pretty well. The gameplay is pretty basic but the Vault feature offers some potential excitement. If you enjoy a classic crime caper, then Cat Burglar is worth a closer look. I also suggest you try Play ‘N Go’s Cops ‘n’ Robbers which offers payouts of 14,480 times your bet in the feature.
