Net Entertainment Wild Worlds Slot Review and Free Play

A trio of bird superheroes try and save the world from a band of monsters in Wild Worlds, a highly unusual 5 reel, avalanche reels video slot from Scandi developer NetEnt. Well designed as usual, Wild Worlds features some pretty unorthodox gameplay. The highlight is the free spins round with wild extras. Play on your PC tablet or mobile from between 20p and £400 per spin.

The action takes place using an avalanche reels game engine. The setting is the top of a skyscraper where the 3 feathered superheroes are tapping away at their computer screens.

On the reels to the right you’ll see green, pink and blue gemstones which pay 4 times your bet if you land 5 either vertically or horizontally. More rewarding are the green, pink and blue jewels that feature the face of the 3 superheroes which award 1, 5 or 15 times your stake for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

The black stone edged in gold is the most rewarding of the standard symbols paying 5, 25 or 50 times your bet for 3, 4 or 5 in a row. There’s also a wild. This substitutes for everything apart from the scatter and offers payouts of the top symbol. There’s an unusual range of extras on offer in Wild Worlds.

Hero Wilds feature – land a winner made up of one of the 3 Hero symbols and all the other matching symbols elsewhere on the reels turn into wilds.

Destroy feature – on any losing spin, 1 of the animated superheroes can spring into life and trigger the destroy feature. All of the coloured symbols associated with this hero are destroyed and a new symbol drop follows.

Free Spins feature – these are triggered by landing 3 scatters on the same spin. You’ll then receive 8 free spins. Spin the bonus wheel to see which wild extras are in play during those free spins. The avian Heroes go into battle with Monsters during the free spins. If they beat a Monster or find a weak spot, you’ll receive your wild extras:

  • In Ice World, these are heavy wilds that stick in place for the following avalanche if you land a win.
  • In Fire Lands, between 2 and 4 wilds are added at random.
  • In the Dark Forest, spreading wilds are your reward.

Hero Attacks feature – winning combinations made up of a Hero symbol help fill their associated meter. A full meter activates a Hero Special Attack. Inflicting damage on the Monsters awards points which can in turn lead to free spins.

Wild Worlds is a very unusual video slot. The design is great as usual for a NetEnt game but the gameplay really takes some getting used to. We often advise having a few spins in demo mode but it’s a real necessity here. The features can be pretty good, especially the wild extras in the free spins round. We found them quite tricky to trigger though.

We didn’t really have a clue what was going on for a lot of the time. That didn’t really matter though as the avalanche reels and other extras kept things moving along at a decent lick. If you like simple fruit machines, then Wild Worlds is best avoided. If you fancy something a bit more challenging, then Wild Worlds is worth a closer look. Saying that, I prefer more volatile offerings like NetEnt’s Vikings.
