Net Entertainment The Reel Steal Slot Review and Free Play

The Reel Steal: Demo

Staging a daring heist and making off with plenty of loot is the goal in The Reel Deal. This 5 reel, 9 payline crime-themed video slot is from NetEnt and comes with a bonus round that awards 25 or more free spins with all payouts boosted by a 5x multipliers. Look out for wilds that can send that multiplier rocketing to 25x! Play on all devices from between 9p and £45 per spin.

Many crime-themed games are light-hearted, slapstick affairs – this has a more serious tone. The visuals are done comic book style and are simple but nicely crafted. You won’t see any playing card fillers here, all of the symbols relate to the theme.

You’ll see passports and guns spinning around the reels alongside cameras and floor plans, bags full of cash, briefcases with diamonds and a safe full of gold bars. The most lucrative symbols are the 5 members of the gang trying to pull of the daring blag. The best of them is the man with the gun who offers awards of up to 1,500 coins per payline.

Helping to create those winning combinations is the yellow sports car which is the wild. It can hit on all 5 reels and substitute for everything bar the scatter. Whenever the wild forms part of a winning combination in the base game the payout gets a 5x multiplier boost.

The highlight of the gameplay is the Free Spins feature which is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 of the dynamite scatter. You’ll pocket an award of 4, 15 or 100 times your total stake as well as 15, 20 or 25 free spins.

All payouts in the free spins round benefit from a 5x multiplier. Hope to see the sports car wild drive into view too. If the wild forms part of a winner =, the 2 multipliers are combined to sent your payout soaring by 25x! Every scatter you see will add 1 more free spin to your tally.

The Reel Steal is a pretty simple game but one we really enjoyed. The comic book imagery is well put together and the soundtrack is a cracker, combining elements from Isaac Hayes’s Theme From Shaft with the funky end of the score from the Steve McQueen classic, Bullitt. It gives the game a grimy, retro feel that works well.

The range of extras isn’t the widest but the multipliers keep things interesting. We found it to be quite a volatile video slot too with maximum payouts of nearly 4,500 times your bet on each 25x multiplier free spin. We found plenty to like in The Reel Steal. If the multipliers work their magic, then there’s plenty of potential for The Reel Steal to live up to its name. If it’s crime you’re after, Playtech’s Murder Mystery is recommended.
