Microgaming Lucha Legends Slot Review and Free Play

Lucha Legends: Demo

Don the virtual spandex mask and jump into the ring in Lucha Legends, a Mexican wrestling-themed video slot from Microgaming. Played using a 5 reel, 25 payline game engine, it comes with special Super Wilds that can double or treble payouts or spread and turn 2 adjoining symbols wild whenever they hit. There’s also a free spins round. Activate the Power Up Mode and you’ll see more Super Wilds which deliver even bigger rewards. Play on all devices from between 25p and £75 per spin.

There’s an anarchic feel to the design here which matches the madcap wrestling theme. On the reels you’ll see lower value A to J symbols as well as ring girls and an assortment of colourful wrestlers. They’re joined by a standard wild and scatter. Lucha Legends comes with a pair of features.

Super Wilds feature – on any spin, a wrestler can randomly transform a standard wild into a Super Wild. These Super Wilds will then boost a payout with a 2x or 3x multiplier or turn 2 adjacent symbols wild.

Free Games feature – land the scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin and your reward will be 10 free spins. Every time a wild lands and forms part of a winner, it becomes a super wild complete with the multipliers and spreading wilds. Hope to see plenty of scatters too as 1 or 10 of them are added to your total every time you land 2 or 3 of them on the same free spin.

You can bring plenty of extra action into play if you’re prepared to up your stake. Activating Power Up Mode will double your bet. It delivers plenty of extras in return. For starters, you’ll see the Super Wilds hit far more frequently. There are extra rewards on offer when you do too – the multipliers on offer increase from 2x and 3x up to 3x and 5x. The wilds spread to 4 rather than 2 adjoining symbols as well.

There’s plenty to like in this Mexican yarn. The design isn’t as flashy as some video slots but does the job well enough and the mariachi-style soundtrack fits the theme very well. The gameplay in this medium volatility game delivers plenty of action, especially if you have the bankroll to activate Power Up Mode. You can win up to 960 times your bet with the 3x multiplier but using the Power Up Mode can give you a 5x multiplier which can result in payouts of 2,200 times your bet on every spin.

If Mexican wrestling appeared on the TV we’d probably switch over. The colourful Lucha Legends won us over though and is worth a spin whether or not you find the whole idea if spandex-clad wrestlers faintly ridiculous. I also suggest you try Lucha Maniacs from Yggdrasil Gaming which is fantastic.
