King Kong Slot review
King Kong is powered by Playtech software and 5 reels and 20 paylines. It is based on the 8th Wonder of the World, King Kong and mirrors the 2005 film by Peter Jackson which stars Naomi Watts, Jack Black and Andy Serkis amongst others. The film was the fourth highest grossing film in Universal Pictures history and won 3 Academy Awards. The slot game was released in March 2011 and features clips from the Hollywood blockbuster.
The Kong slot features 2 game modes – the main mode (and one you will play by default) is the Jungle Mode. You have 2 bonus features you can trigger here. If you manage to get 3 or more King Kong symbols anywhere across the 5 reels, you will activate the Wild Jungle Respins Feature. Here you are rewarded with 3 free respins – now, what makes this feature appealing is the fact that King Kong wild symbols are sticky and remain on the reels till the feature ends.
The second bonus feature is the Skull Island Bonus Feature which is triggered when you get 3 or more Kong logo symbols. You will see a map of Skull Island with 13 choices. Each creature is worth a different prize with varying multiplier values: King Kong (30x multiplier), T-Rex (20x multiplier), Raptor (15x multiplier) and Brontosaurus (10x multiplier). You need to make picks until you unveil 3 of the same dinosaur with up to 30 times your stake on offer.
The second mode is the Big City Mode which is activated when you exit the Skull Island Bonus feature – again, there are 2 bonus features to be played. If you get 3 or more King Kong wild symbols anywhere across the 5 reels, you will activate the Wild Kong Respins Feature.
You get 3 free respins with reels 1 and 5 becoming expanding King Kong wilds in the 1st respin, reels 2 and 4 becoming expanding King Kong wilds in the 2nd respin and reels 1, 3 and 5 becoming expanding King Kong wilds in the 3rd respin. The chances are your big wins will come in the 3rd respin but don’t hold your breath.
The second bonus feature within the Big City Mode is the City Tower Bonus feature – this can be played when you get 3 more Kong logo symbols. You need to pick 1 of 3 planes 3 times which have various cash prizes attached to them. When done, you will return to the default Jungle Mode.
The Kong slot has been around for a while but is still popular. It’s a medium variance slot with good bonus features, great graphics and animations. Don’t expect huge wins but then again the wins are of a decent size. The features trigger quite often but win amounts vary quite a lot. If you’re looking for something more volatile, you can try The Avengers or Sultan’s Gold (both by Playtech). If you like branded/movie slots, you can play South Park by Net Entertainment or Jurassic Park by Microgaming.
