IGT MegaJackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air Slot Review and Free Play

MegaJackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air: Demo

One of TV’s most famous props takes centre stage in MegaJackpots Wheel of Fortune On Air. Created by US developer IGT, it’s a glossy 5 reel, 20 payline video slot that comes with plenty of extras. They include multiplier prizes of up to 250 times your bet, respins with sticky wilds and transforming mystery symbols. You’ll also have the chance to hit a potentially life-changing progressive jackpot prize. Available to play on PC, tablet and mobile devices, stakes range from between 40p and £800 per spin.

Like many other branded video slots from IGT, the design here is very high spec. The reels are set up in the style of the letter board from television show. The Wheel itself sits to the left of the reels. On those reels you’ll find A to 10 royal values as well as diamond rings, sports cars and luxury yachts. Top of the standard symbol payers is the private jet. Land 5 of these in combination and you’ll receive an award of 7.5 times your bet.

More rewarding still is the wild. This pays 30 times your bet if you land 5 on a payline. As usual, it replaces all of the standard symbols. The gold Wheel of Fortune logo is the scatter. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on the same spin and you’ll activate the Wheel of Fortune Wheel feature – you’ll get 1 spin of the Wheel, Super Wheel or Ultra Reel. Depending on which wedge the pointer lands on, you’ll receive 1 of the following extras:

  • Mystery Transform feature – Special ? symbols are added here. Depending on the number of scatters on the triggering spin, you’ll see up to 6, 11 or 14 of them added to the reels. They then all morph into the same symbol and a new payout consideration is made.
  • Wild Reel feature – wild reels are in play here. The number, 3, 4 or 5, depends on how many scatters triggered the round.
  • Respins feature – land 3, 4 or 5 scatters and you’ll be awarded 3, 4 or 5 respins. Those triggering scatters turn wild and lock in place. As do any other wilds that land during the respins.
  • Multiplier feature – if you land on a number wedge, your total bet is multiplied by the figure shown. The potential bet multipliers can reach 250 in the Ultra Wheel.

Lastly there’s the MegaJackpots Bonus feature – 1spin of the MegaJackpots Wheel is awarded here. There are 24 possible wedges that award cash prizes or trigger the jackpot. 1, 2 or 3 envelopes containing the Jackpot prizes are added depending on whether you triggered the round with 3, 4 or 5 scatters.

This is 1 of IGT’s better recent releases. The neat crisp visuals are well done and the clicking of the wheel comes straight from the TV show. The bonus wheel spins come along regularly and offer some decent variety. This isn’t the most volatile video slot you’ll spin though. If you’re after high variance action, you might be better served elsewhere.

What does make this a tempting play is of course the MegaJackpots element. Even without that, Wheel of Fortune On Air would still be worth a spin. With that progressive potential, it will likely become a regular play for jackpot hunters. If you want the big thrill of progressive jackpots, I recommend NetEnt’s Hall of Gods or Playtech’s Jackpot Giant.
