Cats Video Slot review
Cats is an IGT-powered video slot which is one of the most popular land based games in Las Vegas. Set in the African plains with lions, leopards, cheetahs and panthers, you can play from as little as 30p a spin. It has quite a peculiar soundtrack though which I quite like and adds to the excitement of the slot.
Cats uses the Split Symbols feature where 2 symbols count for 2 instead of 1 giving you the chance to win 10 of a kind combinations. Each cats symbol has 2 varieties (single symbols or double symbols) You can win with as little as 3 matching cats or as much as 10 matching cats for bigger wins. If you combine double cats symbols with the Cats wild, prepare yourself for huge wins!
You also have the Free Spins Bonus feature which is triggered by getting 5 or 6 Paw Print symbols anywhere on reels 2, 3 or 4 (the 3 middle reels). You will receive between 5 and 10 free spins initially depending on how many paw print symbols you get (5 free spins for 5 symbols and 10 free spins for 6 symbols).
You can also trigger more free spins for getting 5 or 6 Paw Prints during the feature. The free spins are extraordinarily rich compared to the base game which is great. Split symbols also appear to further boost your winning potential. Don’t get carried though, big wins don’t come that easily.
I’ve played many IGT slots and I quite like Cats as it feels like an authentic Las Vegas style slot game. You don’t need the Free Spins Bonus feature to win big in this game which I quite like too. In terms of the free spins feature, I’ve had mixed results with many small wins and some huge wins.
You just need to be patient and hope you get a few wilds with a couple split Cats symbols to really get that massive win you’re aiming for. Despite Cats being a land-based favourite, it cannot compare to Pharaoh’s Fortune (my favourite IGT game) or the much-loved Cleopatra II.
