Worms Slot review
Worms is a 5 reel 50 payline video slot based on the popular PC game that shot to fame in 1995. You will see the grenade-wielding, military worms in action as the game has been created by Blueprint Gaming and Team 17 (creators of the PC game). You can play for as little as 50p a spin to £100 a spin.
Look out for the Worms wild symbol as getting 5 will trigger a 1,000 coin jackpot. Then there’s the Crate Bonus scatter symbol where 3 of them on reels 2, 3 and 4 triggers the Worms Bonus feature. You then have to select a bonus crate to win 1 of 3 bonus games. Here are the details:
- Revealing the Angry Scot Worm triggers the Crate Escape Bonus game.
- Revealing the Space Worm initiates the Space Trail Bonus game.
- Revealing the Drill Sergeant Worm activates the Free Spins Battle Bonus game.
The Crate Escape Bonus feature entails selecting a crate to reveal a cash prize, weapon or first aid kit. If you reveal a weapon, the worm’s health is reduced. If you reveal a first aid kit, it will replenish the worm’s health. Basically, you will carry on selecting crates until the worm runs out of health. You can win up to 100x your stake here.
In the Space Trail Bonus feature, you need to select a toolbox to advance the worm along the planet trail. If you reveal ‘Teleport’, the worm will jump randomly to any position in front of you on the trail. Revealing a weapon will cause your worm to come under attack. If he gets hit, the bonus game is over. Incredibly, you can win up to 1000x your total bet!
The Free Spins Battle Bonus feature is the best one with the Battle Worms on the centre reel (reel 3) having various impacts. The Pirate Worm reduces your health whilst the Medi-Worm restores some of your health. The Drill Sergeant Worm rewards you with a bonus win. Free spins are unlimited which is great – they will continue until the Worm’s health is reduced to zero. You will also be helped by the fact there are lots of more super stacked wilds.
Worms is a fun slot game which brings back great memories of the iconic PC game. It’s not that easy to get access to the bonus rounds though but when you’re in, expect a decent return. The bigger wins will come from the Free Spins Battle Bonus feature as super stacked wilds can really give you a huge return.
In terms of gameplay, it reminds me a little of Barcrest’s Rainbow Riches as it’s colourful, fun and has similar bonus features. Worms is quite an exciting slot game at first but the novelty wears off in my opinion quite quickly due to it not being high variance enough. I recommend you try something like Cleopatra II by IGT or Thunderstruck II by Microgaming which are also very popular and have the potential for bigger wins.
