Bally Technologies Dancing Drums Video Slot Review

Dancing Drums: Demo

Spin to a Chinese rhythm in Dancing Drums, a 5 reel, 243 ways to win jackpot video slot from Bally Technologies. The highlight is the bonus round where you can choose to play between 3 and 15 free spins. The fewer the free spins, the bigger the game engine – you could spin on a set up that offers 7,776 ways to win. Stakes range from between 88p and £88 per spin.

With red and gold dominating, there’s a classical feel to the visuals in Dancing Drums. Joining the lower value playing cards are drums, coins, silver pots, money trees and junk ships. The jade dragon is the best paying symbol. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on adjacent reels and you’ll pocket 100, 200 or 800 coins.

Land 3 scatters on adjacent reels starting from reel 1 and you’ll activate the Free Spins feature – you’ll then be offered a selection of free spin options. The fewer the number of free spins, the larger the reel set you’ll use. The maximum size here offers some 7,776 ways to win:

    • 15 free spins on a 3×5 grid
    • 10 free spins on a 4×5 grid
    • 5 free spins on a 5×5 grid
  • 3 free spins on a 6×5 grid
  • Mystery Pick – You could land any combination of free spins and grid size here

Hope to see the scatters during the feature too. Landing 2 of them will add another 3 free spins to your tally.

You’ll also have a chance to win 1 of 4 jackpot prizes here. The Jackpot Bonus feature can trigger at random on any spin that includes a wild. On the new screen, you’ll be offered a selection of 12 gold coins. Keep picking until you find 3 the same. You’ll then win 1 of the Mini, Minor, Major or Grand jackpots. The figures currently on offer are on view in the boxes above the main game engine.

Dancing Drums is a perfectly solid offering. The visuals are well constructed but feel a little cramped in the base game. The traditional Asian-style soundtrack is perfectly easy on the ear too. The features on offer here are limited though. Being able to change the game engine during the free spins does offer something a little unusual. Even so, it didn’t really get our pulse racing.

If you’re a fan of the Chinese theme then by all means give Dancing Drums a go. If you’re not usually a fan, this probably won’t offer enough to win you round. I would much rather play other Bally titles with Wacky Races and Titanic worth trying.
