Microgaming Dream Date Slot Review and Free Play

Dream Date: Demo

Microgaming plays Cupid in Dream Date, a love themed video slot. The highlights of this 5 reel, 243 ways to win game are the Hot Zones that award instant prizes of up to 40 times your stake and the free spins round where expanding wilds can double payouts. See if romance is in the air on all devices from between 15p and £60 per spin.

Your first decision when firing up Dream Date is whether to play in Historic or Modern mode. The gameplay is the same in both but the visuals are different. In both, you’ll find a trio of hunky fellas trying to woo the lady. Expect to see pirates, dandies, lifeguards, bikers and suited city slickers. It’s all a bit cheesy.

Choose 1 of the male characters to be the Dream Date – if the Dream Date and the lady land on the middle positions on reels 1 and 5 (which is known as the Hot Zone) on the same spin, you’ll win an instant prize worth 2, 5, 10, 20 or 40 times your total stake. Helping to create winning combinations is the wild. When this hits on the middle reel, it expands to turn the whole of that reel wild.

The highlight of Dream Date is the Free Spins feature – it’s triggered in the usual manner by landing 3 or more scatters. That will award 8 free spins. Better still is if you land the scatter plus the Dream Date in the Hot Zone. The number of free spins awarded then doubles to 16.

During the free spins, all of the male characters are replaced by the Dream Date symbol. These extra symbols make it easier to create winning lines. The wild also has some extra properties in feature – when it hits, it expands as usual. If it forms a part of a winning combination, then the payout is boosted by a 2x multiplier and is doubled.

As far as volatility goes, Dream Date sits in the medium range with top payouts of 1,800 times your bet on each free spins involving the 2x wild.

The design in this romantically-themed video slot is very cheesy and it won’t be to all tastes (and it certainly wasn’t to ours). The features aren’t bad though with both the Hot Zones and free spins offering some decent action. It didn’t really get our heart racing but if you’re looking for a game to play on Valentine’s Day then you could do worse than give Dream Date a look. Saying that, I’d much rather play other Microgaming titles such as Jurassic World.
