This video slot takes its inspiration from the 1939 movie that starred Julie Garland as Dorothy and there’s a vintage feel to the design. Set against an Emerald City backdrop, the reels take the shape of the Yellow Brick Road. There you’ll find playing card suit symbols as well as Toto the dog, the gatekeeper, the mayor, a single symbol featuring the Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man and the Wizard.
Land 5 of Dorothy on adjacent reels and you’ll win 12.5 times your bet. There’s also a jackpot symbol that pays up to 250 times your bet if you land 5 in combination. Rounding out the symbols are a wild and scatter. When it comes to features, there’s 4 in total.
Glinda The Good Witch feature – this can trigger at random on any base game spin. Once active, up to 5 bubbles will float onto the reels. The symbol the bubble lands on expands up 1 to 3 spaces. If a wild bubble lands, the symbol turns wild. A new consideration is then made with the expanded symbols in position.
To trigger the other 2 features, you’ll need to land the bonus scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin. This opens up the Wheel Bonus feature. Depending on where the pointer lands, you’ll win a cash prize with multiplier, land on a character or activate 1 of the 2 features. Some WMS slots have left us a little underwhelmed, both in terms of design and playability. The Wizard of Oz Emerald City is one of the developer’s better efforts. The old school visuals are nicely done and there’s a good variety on offer from the features. The bubbles in the base game add a little pep too.
Fans of the film will of course find much to like here. Even if you’ve not seen it, this journey to Emerald City is one worth making. I would also suggest you try Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers which still remains the best Wizard of Oz video slot in my opinion.
