Playtech Hologram Wilds Video Slot Review

Hologram Wilds: Demo

The classic fruit machine is given a sci-fi twist in Hologram Wilds, a 5 reel, 40 payline video slot powered by Playtech. Boasting glossy, high-end design, this space age adventure comes with stacked wilds and a free spins round with added wilds. Play on your desktop, tablet or mobile device from just 40p per spin.

Hologram Wilds takes classic fruit machine imagery and gives it a futuristic overhaul – you’ll see cherries and lemons, pineapples and apples, pears and blueberries and melons, bananas and plums. Most rewarding is the lucky red 7. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on 1 of the game’s 40 paylines and you’ll pocket 30, 100 or 400 coins.

Better still is the wild as this can land on all 5 reels and substitute for everything apart from the scatter. Awards of 50, 200 or 1,000 coins are on offer if you land a 3, 4 or 5 -symbol combo. Wilds can land fully stacked to further enhance your winning chances.

Hologram Wild comes with a Free Games feature – to access it, you’ll need to land the golden crown scatter on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin. You’ll then get 5 free spins. Extra stacked wilds are brought into play during the free spins round. You can add to your total of free spins too if you manage to find the scatters on the middle 3 reels once again – there’s no limit to how many more free spins you can win.

That’s pretty much it as far as extras are concerned – as you’d expect given the title, the game revolves around the hologram wilds, especially in the free spins round where there are more of the in play than normal.

This is a volatile video slot too – there will likely be lengthy barren spells in this portion of space. Watch out when you trigger the free spins round though as the stacked wilds can quickly deliver. This is a high variance offering so be warned.

The design here is impressive. The symbols are crystal clear against the deep space backdrop and everything has a glossy, HD feel. Giving the classic fruit machine a space age overhaul works well enough here. It’s not a game to play if you’re after plenty of extras. If you’re looking for simple, well designed, volatile action then Hologram Wilds offers just that. I would also recommend Stars Awakening and Super Lion (both by Playtech) that have a similar theme.
