Green fingered video slots players can try and grow a bumper crop of coins in Fields of Fortune, a gardening-themed game from Playtech. It’s a 5 reel, 25 payline title that comes with a Free Games feature with expanding wild multipliers or a trio of extra wilds. Get cultivating, on all devices, from between 25p and £250 per spin.

The design in Fields of Fortune is done cartoon style – set against a backdrop filled with fields and trees, the reels include lower value A to 10 playing cards which are done in the shape of peas, parsnips and carrots.

More rewarding are the trowel and fork and watering can symbols which pay up to 150 coins. Next comes a trio of flowers – the Venus fly trap, the snap dragon and in Playtech’s words, the dandy lion. The latter is the top paying symbol. 5 of these on a payline will get you a 1,000 coin payout.

They’re joined by a wild, the red rose, which can land on reels 2, 3 and 4 only and substitutes for all other symbols apart from the scatter. The wild expands to fill the whole of the reel if it goes on to become part of a winning combination. This means you can get up to 3 wild reels on a spin!

Fields of Fortune also comes with a Free Games feature – to trigger it, you’ll need to land 3 or more of the scatter symbol on the same spin. You can boost your chances of hitting it by doubling your stake and activating the Power Scatter feature. When these land just off the reels, either above or below, they will still count as a triggering scatter. Once the feature is activated, you’ll be given the choice of 2 free spin options:

Parsnip Spins – an undefined amount of free spins are awarded here. Each time a scatter lands, 1 of the 3, higher value flower symbols will become wild. After 3 scatters have landed, you’ll have 3 extra wilds spinning around the reels. The free spins continue until a fourth scatter lands.

Carrot Spins – opt for this feature and you’ll be awarded a wild multiplier which increases in value from 1x to 2x to 3x and then 5x every time a scatter hits. After the scatter lands for the fourth time, the free spins will end.

Our slight preference would be for the Parsnip Spins due to the potential bigger wins with 4 wild symbols on the reels! Fields of Fortune combines an unusual theme with cartoon design and interesting features to great effect. The best winning opportunities come in the feature so if you can afford the outlay, we’d recommend activating the Power Scatters.

We found the free spins very hard to trigger but enjoyed some decent results when we did. Expect plenty of spells when your crops will yield little in the way of returns. Get lucky with the wild in the feature round though and it’s possible that Fields of Fortune can deliver a tasty yield of coins. If you like the theme, NextGen Gaming’s Golden is recommended.
