Novomatic Haul of Hades Slot Review and Free Play

Haul of Hades: Demo

The ancient Greek underworld is the setting for Haul of Hades, a mythological themed slot powered by Novomatic in association with Mazooma. This 5 reel, 40 payline slot comes with stacked symbols and a free spins bonus feature. Available across all devices, play from between 40p and £50 per spin.

The design of Haul of Hades is superb – the imagery has a dark, oppressive feel and comes with a stirring soundtrack, complete with flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder, which really enhances the hellish feel.

Joining the lower value playing cards are a quartet of Greek gods and goddesses – Hades, Zeus, Athena and Aphrodite. These gods can appear as stacked symbols and fill up the entire reel (or reels) in which they appear. The Haul of Hades logo is the wild, substituting for all other symbols bar the scatter – it too can appear as a stacked symbol and expand to fill entire reels.

Keep a special look out for the free spins symbol – when it lands fully stacked on the middle 3 reels, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature and be awarded 7 free spins. That doesn’t sound particularly generous but remember that 1 of the 4 god symbols will be chosen as the giant stacked symbol for all of your free spins. The only downside here is that the free spins cannot be re-triggered.

As far as variance goes, Haul of Hades is on the high side – there are chances to win big in both the base game and the feature. It’s certainly possible to fill the reels with the same stacked symbol which can lead to some very impressive scores – just expect some down spells along the way when your bankroll will appear hellish rather than heavenly.

The Mazooma fingerprints are all over Haul of Hades – Novomatic is best known for its simple fruit machines and basic slots. This is certainly a big step up as far as design goes. It looks and sounds excellent, complete with slick animations and some creepy visuals.

The gameplay is fairly rudimentary but the stacked symbols are a nice addition. Land multiplies of the same stacked god and the rewards from this Greek legend can be anything but mythical. For Greek mythology, Novomatic’s Lord of the Ocean is a must as to is Microgaming’s Thunderstruck II.
