Net Entertainment Emoji Planet Slot Review and Free Play

Emoji Planet: Demo

Timed to coincide with the release of the awful-sounding The Emoji Movie, Emoji Planet is a 6 reel video slot from Scandi slot giants NetEnt. It’s played using an avalanche reels game engine and comes with 5 mini features. Stakes start at 20p, rising to £200 per spin.

NetEnt games are usually well designed, brightly coloured affairs and Emoji Planet maintains the developer’s usual high visuals standards. Spinning around the reels are a selection of emoticon symbols including hearts, bombs, pizzas, lips, rockets, turds, aliens, a smiley and a gold star which is the wild. Winners are created by landing a cluster of at least 5 matching symbols.

The game is played using the Avalanche feature – after a winning spin, the successful symbols are removed and a new set of symbols are dropped in from above. These avalanches keep on coming as long as there’s a winner on show. This feature is also found in NetEnt’s first platinum release, Gonzo’s Quest by the way.

To the right of the reels are 5 Emoji Meters – every time a symbol is destroyed in an avalanche, it will fill the associated meter. Fill a Meter with 12 symbols and you’ll trigger 1 of the 5 mini features:

  • Bomb feature – 8 random symbols on the reels are destroyed. Each 1 of them delivers an instant win coin prize of between 5 and 100 coins.
  • Pizza feature – an overlay selection of symbols are added to the reels in a 3×3 formation.
  • Kiss Mark feature – look out here for 3 sticky wilds. If the wilds form part of more than 1 winning cluster on the same avalanche, you’ll lose a life. Each sticky wild has 3 lives.
  • Rocket feature – a giant stack of 10 wilds will appear on and above the reels. They drop down a place on each avalanche spin that follows until they’ve all disappeared off the bottom of the reels.
  • Two Hearts feature – this 1 is on offer when there are no more winning combinations on show and no other feature is triggered. The total win is multiplied by the number of times the meter is filled plus 1.

As we’ve come to expect from NetEnt, Emoji Planet is a well-designed game. The visuals have a cartoon feel and are nicely done. The avalanche reels deliver a steady stream of action. It might not have the thrills of some other video slots in the NetEnt catalogue but is certainly playable enough. The Emoji Movie looks like a real turkey – Emoji Planet should offer a bit more as far as entertainment is concerned.
