ELK Studios Kaiju Slot Review and Free Play

Kaiju: Demo

Head to a dystopian future where the hopes of humanity rest with a female cyborg known as HA-42 in Kaiju. Created by ELK Studios, this volatile game comes with vertical lasers that add extra wilds and a free spins round that’s played on an expanding game engine that can offer up to 7,776 ways to win. Play on all devices from between 20p and £100 per spin.

ELK Studios like to pack in lots of back story into their video slots and there’s plenty to take in in Kaiju. The Kaiju of the title are dragon-like creatures covered in precious stones. Cyborg HA-42 tries to obtain the stones from these aggressive creatures and send them back to hibernation mode.

A futuristic-looking Asian street scene forms the backdrop to the reels. With its neon signs and holograms, it’s not a million miles from Blade Runner. On the reels, you’ll see an assortment of different coloured credit cards and a selection of crystals and gemstones.

As usual, winning combinations are created by landing 3 or more matching symbols from left to right. You can also win if you land 3 matching symbols in a vertical formation. When this happens, you’ll trigger the Vertical Laser feature – a wild symbol is added on the reel above which stays in place for that spin.

Land 3 HA-42 scatter symbols on the same spin to trigger the Kaiju Battle Free Spins feature – here you’ll be awarded 7 free spins. A Kaiju is then selected at random to be your opponent during the feature. To defeat the Kaiju, you need to land Vertical Lasers on specific hot spots which expand the reel set. 1 extra free spin is awarded with each reel expansion.

You’ll defeat a Kaiju when you manage to activate all of its hot spots. The last Vertical Laser that completes the kill will turn into a stacked wild which remains locked in place for any free spins you have left. The reels can expand 6 rows high here, offering the potential for a 7,776 ways to win game engine.

With all that back story and an unusual feature round, Kaiju sounds like a complex game. It’s not really but a few spins in play mode are recommended to get your eye in. Once you have, there’s plenty to enjoy in this sci-fi themed video slot. The design is impressive as usual, especially if you’re playing on a mobile or tablet. The features offer something different too.

If you’re looking for a game that combines quality design, unusual extras and high volatility then you’ll want to go into battle with the Kaiju. I also recommend other innovative games from ELK Studios such as Wild Toro and Wild Seas.
