IGT/WagerWorks Software Review

About IGT

IGT’s foundation can be dated back to the 1950s but they made their global splash when they went public in 1981. They were the original creator of the video poker machine. IGT then bought Electronic Data Technologies in 1984 and as a result created loyalty programs. Casinos were then able to cater better to players – this system is now known as IGT Advantage.

IGT then went on create the Player’s Edge video poker machine, the S-Slot. Then they created the first ever progressive slot system called Nevada Megabucks that had a jackpot of $1 million. As a result, in 1989 they were awarded with the US Senate Productivity Award and in 1990 released the Red White & Blue as well as Double Diamond slots which were the first themed slot machines.

In 1991, IGT was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. IGT Europe started operating a year later and then in 1993 IGT produced its first product for the Japanese pachisuro machine market. Riverboat gaming also was legalised in the US and combined with imbedded bill acceptors on the machines made IGT a growing stock on the NYSE.

In 1996 IGT released the most popular gaming machine of all time which is the Wheel of Fortune progressive slot. In 1998 they purchased Barcrest Gaming from the United Kingdom ad well as introducing Triple Play Draw Poker and the Elvis Slot through collaboration with Action Gaming. In 1999, the released the S2000 spinning-reel slot. In 2000, IGT produced their 1 millionth gaming machine (a Red White & Blue S2000 slot).

In 2003 they were named in the BusinessWeek magazine’s list of 50 Top-Performing Companies and well as Fortune magazine’s 100 Fastest-Growing Companies list. In 2005, they purchased WagerWorks. In 2007, the largest penny slot jackpot was won – the amount was a staggering $18.8 million! In 2008 they launched the larger than life eBay video slot which is based on community play free spins bonus and huge screens. This is only a summary – all their achievements and innovations would require a book!

Casino Manual rates their games very highly. They produced the famous Cleopatra slot that is based on the mystical Eastern theme. This is one of the most popular games of all time. The game is a 5 reel 20 payline game which has a free spins bonus round with a retrigger option.
