The UK Gambling Commission has introduced new autoplay and reality check regulations that will affect UK players – find out what this means for you.
The UK Gambling Commission is an independent public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and was set up under the Gambling Act 2015 – their aim is to regulate commercial gambling in Great Britain and make online gaming, amongst other forms of gambling, safe for players. They have introduced new reality checks to help players – details are below.
What does this mean for players?
There are 3 new controls which will appear when you choose the Autoplay option on slot games – these are as follows:
Loss Limit – you get to set a limit to what you are ok with losing. This means you will not lose more than your set amount – for example: if you put your limit at £100 and lose £100, the autoplay will stop.
Single Win Limit – play will stop after hitting the win limit you determine. If you were to set your limit at £200 for example, if you have a £200 winning spin, the Autoplay function will stop.
Jackpot Win – if you are lucky enough to win a jackpot, play will stop. This gives you time to reflect on the possibility of cashing out that jackpot or what you will spend your winnings on.
Every time you choose Autoplay, you will be prompted to input your bet amount, the number of spins you want to play and the 3 limits above. Not all video slots offer this new reality check but more and more software providers are implementing this.
